Bidjar Wool Rug 6x9, a small Kurdish town in western Iran, is renowned for its thick and strong Kurdish carpets, known for their remarkable durability. Many carpet experts associate the name Bidjar with “durability.” The weavers utilize a heavy metal and wood comb to pound the weft and knots until the pile stands upright. As a result, the compact pile surface effectively prevents gravel and other microscopic particles from becoming embedded in the carpet. They commonly use Turkish knots to create carpets featuring rich colors like red and blue, accented by beige.

While the Herati pattern (also known as the fish pattern) is the most prevalent, you will also find medallions and floral motifs.

Rug Description

The Bidjar Persian Wool Runner boasts a rich combination of geometrical, Herati, floral, and figurative patterns. Measuring 7.0 x 7.0 feet, this hand-knotted, handmade Bidjar runner rug features a wool pile construction, with red as the dominant color set against a black field. The accent colors include vibrant purple and green.

Artisans dye the yarns using plant-based and natural dyes, ensuring a beautiful finish. The rug has a PSI count of 250 x 120. Such a high knot count is common for Bidjar rugs due to their exceptional durability and compact construction.
