While Tabriz carpets are more intricate, Heriz rugs are known for their abstract plant designs, vines, flowers, rosettes, and distinct medallions. Most notably, the large central medallion often found in Heriz rugs resembles the bold sunburst motif of the “Eagle Kazaks” from the Caucasus region. In addition to medallion rugs, Heriz also produces designs with repeating lattice patterns and harsang motifs.
