The Serapi mat is made in Heriz, a city in northeastern Iran not a long way from Tabriz (a city globally known for mat weaving greatness). Serapi rugs were given the term "Serapi" to denote high-quality rugs produced in Heriz prior to 1900. Look for huge geometric medallions crisply outlined with a bright crimson, rust, or dark blue field in a typical serapi rug. A modern serapi rug's hand knotted design may include light or dark pink, light or dark blue, greens, yellows, or ivory. Searpi Rugs are available in the combination of Himalaya, Double Spanish White, and Buccaneer colors and in size of 7 x 5.4 Feet.
